…Since the Letter Press days
To say that Baptist Press has come of age in the Printing industry is not an overstatement. For over fifty years of life-touching operation, we have evolved, through thick and thin, from different stages of development and technological innovation.
The Press started somewhere in Port Harcourt in the early fifties by C. F. Eaglesfield, a Southern Baptist Convention missionary from United States of America (USA), to take care of his printing needs. As a result of his relocation to USA, the Press was handed over to the Nigerian Baptist Convention who later moved the Press to Ibadan to be at its present site at Total Garden, Oritamefa, Ibadan.
…Way back in 1966
On July 28 1966, Baptist Press was incorporated and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). Consequently, the press became (and has since remained) the corporate/official printer to the Nigerian Baptist Convention –her proprietor. By virtue of this, the Company handles all the Convention printing works which include the Convention-in- session materials and other literature produced annually in numerous quantities.
The Press has been instrumental in the production of the literature used by the Convention through her professional inputs. Examples of such materials are: Sunday School Manual, Discipleship Training materials like Experiencing God, Follow the Master, Master Life, Six Lessons, In God’s Presence, The Mind of Christ, etc. Also, departmental handbooks for all departments of the Convention, hymnals, etc. are printed in at least, three different Nigerian Languages. These are not only made available, they are delivered on time and with a satisfactory quality.
Apart from being the printers to the Nigerian Baptist Convention, the company has now launched fully into commercial printing; exploring the modern day printing industry and expanding her horizon beyond the conventional printing to the emerging digital world of print. By this new development, Baptist Press now offers commercial printing services to the general public, viz. publishing houses like Straight Gate Publishers, Evan Brothers, University Press Plc, Rasmed, Tiger Kids, Epsilom, etc.; Government parastatals, private organizations, religious or non-religious organization etc., thereby adding value to the economy and contributing meaningfully to the general wellbeing of the people through Job creation. We are now one of the leading printing firms in Nigeria.
We hope to put in more efforts by constantly upgrading of ourselves to meet up with the increasing technological demands in the sub-sector. This, we believe, will enable us to ensure that we deliver, continuous satisfactory services to our customers and prospective customers.
